The Woman Who Gave You Wings: Mother’s Day with Orxata Transforming Jewelry

Updated: 5 days ago

Each of us has had women in our lives who became anchors, guiding lights, and sources of inspiration. It wasn't always our mother — sometimes it was a grandmother, a teacher, an older friend, or even a neighbor who changed the course of our lives. They were there when it mattered most: believing in us, teaching us, supporting us in silence.

On Mother’s Day, we honor more than just biological motherhood. We celebrate every woman who left a mark on our soul, because love and care come in many forms and faces.

In today’s post, we’re sharing personal stories from our friends and clients — the #orxatagirls — heartfelt, powerful, and unique reflections on the women who became their source of love, strength, and confidence. We hope these stories inspire you to say words of gratitude and affection to that special person in your life.

Yana Sybiga, entrepreneur

“My mom had the biggest influence on me — like for most people, I suppose.

She’s incredibly close to me, even though we’re so different in character. She taught me how to be kind, empathetic, and successful — how not to sell myself for nothing and to believe in myself no matter what. Thanks to her, I’ve developed a stable sense of self-worth and the understanding that I can achieve so much in this world if I truly want to.

I realize that not everyone has been so lucky, and that’s why I cherish my mom deeply and constantly thank her for everything she’s done for me ☺️”

Alla Melnyk, model, entrepreneur

“It’s hard for me to highlight just one woman in my life — I have three.

My grandmother, my mother, and my sister. Each of them gave me something invaluable.

My grandmother was a real-life heroine: she raised four children during tough times and gave each of them an education. Beyond her own children, she always supported her grandchildren. I’ll never forget the warmth of her hug on the day she passed away — I was only eight, but I still remember her as a brave, yet gentle woman.

My mother instilled in me compassion — even for the tiniest bug, because it too can feel pain, because it’s a living creature. And now, at 25, I still care deeply about all living beings.

And my sister has been a true example of wisdom. Her advice has helped me avoid many impulsive decisions in adult life.

Each of them is a part of who I am.”

“The Girl with the Mimosa”

The smell of theater…

I was five. I didn’t yet understand the impact that day would have on my future, but I smiled as I stepped into the red box seat. I didn’t know yet that this very theater would bring me my first victory in life.

My grandmother gently held my hand and spoke to me about art…

Valentyna Holodova — my grandmother — would lead me by the hand like that until her very last day.

It’s trendy to say you’re “self-made,” but I’m not traditional in that sense. Everything I know, everything I’ve done or will do — I owe it all to her.

She was my father (whom I never had), and my mother during the times when Mom had to work hard to provide for us.

Grandma had always dreamed of a musical education, but there was no money during the war, so she poured all her dreams into me. I started music school not at seven, like most kids, but at five — I already had a strong foundation, thanks to her. She taught herself everything, and then taught me.

She taught me to sing romances before I could even read. And I gave her countless victories at music competitions in return.

This incredible woman gave herself entirely to her children, expecting nothing in return.

She gave us all the best of what she knew, so that we could grow into good people.

Even near the end of her life, she said:

‘I’m so happy to be with my family, surrounded by beautiful flowers. And don’t you dare cry!’

Grandma loved mimosa flowers dearly, and every spring I buy a bouquet and bring it home for her.”
